von Peter himself

Reconnaissance

Yet another occasional series. This time the topic at hand will be wargames - and perhaps some history - related topics of potential interest to the readership.

Many of the first entries were first published on the original von Peter's Wargaming Madness website. Along with that website these have been - or soon will be - lost due to the vagaries of technology companies and their ever changing road maps to the future. Some of those reports will be recreated here for the edification and reading pleasure of any who visit.

Wargames Shows

Some of the more notable wargames shows that von Peter himself has had the pleasure of attending. These tend to be of a foreign nature.

To date two well known shows from the United Kingdom 2009 show calendar are planned to be presented. von Peter himself and The son & heir were fortunate enough to be taken under the wing of friendly UK locals which made these visitations much easier if not straight out possible. We owe them a deep debt of gratitude.

Places

In his travels von Peter himself has had the good fortune to visit some places that may prove to be of interest to the readership. Here is where such visitations to such places will be documented.

The Tank Museum

Visited Sunday 19th April 2009

More undeserved hospitality in the UK resulted in a visit to Weymouth and the Tank Museum. Please put on your hearing protection because it's ... heavy metal time! A-ha-ha!

Salute Zero Nine

Attended Saturday 28th March 2009

Salute is traditionally considered the biggie of the UK wargames calendar. It's crown may be slipping a little now(?) but back in 2009 it reigned supreme. This was our first UK wargames show and with it's reputation proceeding it the father and son duo looked forward to it with a mix of trepidation and awe ...

An account of the great and most exciting events at Partizan MMIX and Calpe Towers

Attended Sunday 24th May 2009

Partizan was the second UK wargames show visited by von Peter himself and The son & heir. A quite different experience to that provided by Salute.

The Eagle of the 45e RĂ©giment de Ligne

Visited Sunday 28th May 2009

More undeserved hospitality in the UK resulted in a visit to Weymouth and the Tank Museum. Please put on your hearing protection because it's ... heavy metal time! A-ha-ha!

In which The Son & heir spends a week on a Hobby Camp at Warhammer World ... and wants to do it again!

Visited 10 thru 14th August 2009

A major highlight for The son & heir of the UK experience was the week he spent as a (paying!) guest of Games Workshop Headquarters in Nottingham.
